Duct Cleaning FAQ

Q. Why do I need my air ducts cleaned?
Air Ducts are proven to act as a collection source for contaminants such as mold, fungi, bacteria, pollen, pet hair and dander as well as very small dust particles.
Q. Will air duct cleaning reduce our energy bill?
Clean, efficient systems are less likely to break down, have a longer life span and operate more efficiently then a dirty one.
Q. How do you clean the air ducts?
Basically we use a Source Removal system where we attach a large specialized vacuum to the system and back flush all the dust and debris with specialized air whips, brushes and tools depending on the level of contamination and type of ductwork.
Q. How long does it take?
An average home takes 3-5 hours a large system may take longer.
Q. Is there anything I need to do to prepare?
Make sure there is plenty of working room around the furnace and make sure to move any furniture that may be blocking access to any registers or returns.
Q. During the cleaning, will dust be blowing everywhere?
Our large vacuum is specialized for air duct cleaning and contains all the dust including very small particles, like pollen and mold spores so the process is very clean.
Q. How often should I have my air ducts cleaned?
Although every home varies, industry standard is every 3-5 years, those who suffer from allergies and homes with pets may wish to have them cleaned more frequently, where systems with higher efficiency filters may be able to go longer.
Q. Besides having my ducts cleaned is there anything else I can do to improve the air quality of my home?
Many homes suffer from air duct leakage which can pull air in from under the house or in the attic. This air is not only unconditioned air but is also unfiltered and contributes a great deal to poor indoor air quality. Our technicians may be able to find this leakage by visual inspection and offer solutions to fix the leaks.
